About Mara's trip
In MARA's Journey, women share their life stories and, through them, find the tools and skills necessary to succeed. This space was created by María de Jesús Gómez to form a network of physical, economic, mental and spiritual resources. As a young woman and a woman who was undocumented for over 15 years in the United States, as a wife, single mother, social worker, and community leader. María de Jesús encountered obstacles on her way that prevented her from reaching some of her goals, including becoming a gynecologist, having a spectacular wedding, sharing her days with the man of her dreams, and writing a book. Other obstacles limited her but did not prevent her from obtaining US citizenship, providing her children with a comfortable home, maximum education and a happy family, traveling the world, owning a home, earning a degree in psychology and creative writing, finding your own Light and give the world the best of you. María de Jesús affirms that seeing obstacles as challenges, looking for resources and having the support of others is the absolute key to the personal development and success of any human being. Such support can include words of encouragement, spiritual guidance, financial support, mentoring, open-mindedness, and guidance. Mutual support is undoubtedly necessary and powerful to achieve success. María de Jesús created MARA's Journey to support all those women who want to reach their best version with love and action. We share personal stories, knowledge, resources and life tools. The purpose of the trips narrated here is to keep alive the hope of a better tomorrow. We remind ourselves of the importance of creating and conquering our dreams. Welcome to Mujeres en Acción Reinventing Yourself with Love, we are glad you found us!
IT'S TIME TO FINALLY START PLANNING YOUR FUTURE. FINALLY
Narrating and sharing their life stories, women discover weaknesses and strengths, turn them into life tools, and thus transform their dreams into reality. They create their best version and a world of equality where service and love heal everything.
At MARA's Journey, we provide the necessary resources and tools for every determined woman to discover who she is, where she comes from and where she is going.

Halfway through my career I had my children and I put my priorities into perspective, hoping at some point I would continue, 6 years later being a single mother and having to work to support my children. I enrolled in an online education program, studied at night and worked during the day. It seemed like a long time, but thanks to all the efforts I managed to be a teacher. Now I teach boys and girls and I transmit my love for knowledge to them. I discovered my weakness: the lack of opportunities; and my strength: the vocation. And I transformed them into life tools to make my children and me happy.

I always wanted to be a doctor, but I had a hard time studying. I was easily distracted and had a hard time memorizing. But I don't give up. I tried my best and sought help. I learned study techniques, made a schedule and set goals. I also leaned on my family and friends. Little by little I improved and passed the exams. In the end, I managed to get into medical school and graduate. Now I am a doctor and I help save lives.
